HBRD Investments team — London-based alternative investment introduction firm
HBRD Investments professionals reviewing private market investment opportunities

HBRD Investments is a private market introduction firm connecting qualified investors with off-market opportunities across real estate, private equity, commodities, and short-term lending. We operate strictly as an introducer — sourcing opportunities through an established network of operators, fund managers, and deal originators, and introducing them only where investor mandate alignment is confirmed.

Every opportunity that reaches an investor through HBRD has come through a direct relationship, been reviewed against defined criteria, and been matched to a specific investor profile. Our fees are borne entirely by the counterparty. Investors engage at no cost.

Our Story

Founded on experience, not just network

HBRD was built by someone who has sat on both sides of the transaction. Jack Thompson founded HBRD after a career that began in private markets in 2017 at Angels Den — one of Europe's largest angel investor networks — where he progressed to Head of Investor and VC Relations, managing relationships with UHNW individuals, family offices, and venture capital funds across Europe, before joining the SEIS Fund Committee as a member and direct shareholder. Before that, he founded and exited two businesses in the CEE region — which means he has raised capital as an operator, and sourced investors to provide it.

HBRD Investments was formally incorporated in 2022 as the structured vehicle for that experience.

How We Source

How our network works

We do not source from public listings, deal platforms, or open-market channels. Every opportunity we introduce comes through a direct, pre-existing relationship with the operator, fund manager, or deal originator behind it. By the time something reaches an investor through HBRD, it has already been filtered through a layer of trust that precedes our own review.

Not every opportunity that comes through our network reaches an investor. In the past year, our network brought us more than 800 potential opportunities. We introduced 138 of them.

The remaining 600-plus did not clear our internal review — most commonly on legal and security structure, on counterparty track record we could not independently verify, or on terms that did not hold up against what was being claimed. We would rather decline an opportunity than introduce one we cannot stand behind.

Before any introduction is made, we review:

Counterparty identity and track record — who is actually behind the opportunity, and what their history is in this specific type of transaction.

Legal and security framework — what structurally protects an investor's capital: charges, trusts, insurance, or direct ownership, and whether the documentation supports what is being claimed.

Investor protection mechanisms — what happens if something goes wrong, not only what happens if everything goes right.

Regulatory compliance — whether the structure, jurisdiction, and offering basis are appropriate for the investors being introduced.

Who We Work With

Who we work with

We work with High-Net-Worth and Ultra-High-Net-Worth individuals, family offices, and professional investors across international markets. Every relationship begins with a detailed mandate conversation — covering sector preferences, risk appetite, capital allocation objectives, and investment horizon — before any opportunity is introduced.

We introduce selectively because that is the only way the model works. If you would like to understand whether our current pipeline aligns with your criteria, the best place to start is a direct conversation.

How We Work

How we work

1. Investor Alignment

We begin by understanding your mandate in detail: sector preferences, risk appetite, capital allocation objectives, and investment horizon. No opportunity is introduced until alignment is established.

2. Selective Introduction

Before any opportunity reaches you, we apply a structured internal review covering counterparty track record, legal and security framework, investor protection mechanisms, and regulatory compliance.

3. Direct Engagement

Once introduced, you engage directly with the operator or management team. We facilitate access to full documentation, legal structure, and due diligence materials.

4. Ongoing Coordination

Transactions are executed directly between investor and counterparty. We remain available throughout to coordinate communication and ensure structured follow-through.
